United Methodist Women
Purpose
United Methodist Women is a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
We are proud to be in the Southeastern Jurisdiction, Western North Carolina Conference, Greensboro District of UMW with two circles: Arlene Stokes and Wesleyan.
UMW is the official women’s organization of the UMC. Its membership is voluntary and open to all women committed to spreading the gospel through mission work. We invite you to join this creative, supportative fellowship of women of all ages, ethnicities, and economic, social, and educational backgrounds with the common goal of commitment.
UMW has grown from
- Two missionaries in India to work in more than 80 countries
- $300 to more than $18 million designated for mission
- Six women gathering in Boston in 1869 to more than 10,000 women gathering in St Louis for Assembly 2010
UMW are
- Committed to channeling efforts and resources to provide for those in need
- Organized to educate members about and for God’s mission
- Equipped for mission through prayer and reflection, participation in mission activities, and study and exposure to new information that expands concepts of mission
United Methodist Women knows all about the love of God, and is committed to showing and giving witness to that love in word and in deed. Join Us!
